Whale Shark Encounter x Cebu Day 2

By Marky - 7:57 AM

Finally got to share our Day 2 in Cebu. We availed the package from Cebu Tours (https://www.cebutours.ph/) on our second day and it includes Oslob-Whaleshark encounter, Tumalog Falls, and Canyoneering. I finally got to check an item off my bucket list- to swim with the regal gentle giants of the sea! Our day 2 is very memorable for me since I got to experience new adventures for the first time. Takot talaga ako sa dagat! Haha. We woke up at an ungodly hour (3am) and traveled a long way to see the whale sharks. It was a Sunday morning and all I can say is it was totally worth it.

It’s very different to see them while you’re in a boat and to see them underwater. No matter how hard you try to prepare yourself for this encounter, you will really get freaked out at first! I was so scared that they will eat me or that they will bite me! But of course, whale sharks are very gentle and they don’t care about you - they only care about the food. I think people would do them more harm than they would to the people.

I'll probably never get over the beauty of this place. This is actually my first time to see such an awesome view of waterfalls and these photos don't even do it justice! Sorry malabo yung iba. Haha. We were all in awe and we couldn't help but swim and plunge ourselves despite the freezing waters. Pero mababaw lang so picture taking lang ang naganap. I'm so happy I was able to see a different side of Cebu and that we all got to appreciate one of nature's wonders.

After swimming at Tumalog Falls, we went straight to one of the houses near the place of Canyoneering. Sobrang maasikaso ang mga Cebuanos. After lunch, we took “habal-habal” going to the canyons.

Canyoneering or canyoning is one of the most heart-pumping activities in Cebu. Why? Simply because this activity involves river trekking, climbing uphill slope, jumping off a 30 feet waterfalls, and swimming the cold waters of Matutinao river. This adventure is relatively new, but now is gaining popularity among adrenaline junkies and to ordinary individuals wanting to experience a new adventure.
The upstream canyoneering activity will start at Kawasan Falls. From the highway, Kawasan falls is approximately 1.5 kilometers. Then we climbed up to the third waterfalls which is the jump-off point for this activity. The first challenge is to cross to the other side of the river and that is by swimming. Aside from the swimming part, I am really more concern of getting some muscle cramps because of the coldness of the water. Parehas pa kami napunitan ng litid sa bibig after the first jump. HAHAHA. This is the exact reason why you need to close your mouth before the jump. lol. Check our videos.

 Dinner at Circa 1900.
Thanks for viewing!
